Saturday, October 27th, 2007

The highlight of last week was catching up with Joy Gratez. Joy and the ladies with her on the ministry trip to Ukraine, so we were able to see them. We Meet Joy and her two friends from her ministry team at the metro. Together on the sardine train we headed into the center of town. It was lovely to walk along the main street arm in arm with Joy.

We arrived at our dinner destination… TGI Fridays. Were we enjoyed a night of laughs and social commentary’s on Ukraine. It was so great to to see Joy and to chat about anything. As our night ended we caught the metro home. I jumped on the train as we waved good bye, with tears in my eyes and a brave smile.

Skype Choc

Leah and I missing our chocolate related conversations, decided to invent skype chocolate.

This involves each person being of close friendship, reminiscing over past dessert nights, deciding to have skype chocolate, running away from the computer to prepare the best hot chocolate you can get your hands on, returning together for mutual appreciation of the hot beverage and to talk about life, the universe and everything!

Pure Bliss! I think Leah and I might have to do this again!

Fashion Meets the Metro

lauren on the metro

I love the cold weather in Ukraine. I was looking forward to the winter fashion, hats coats and boots. So for my birthday Paul took me shopping for a winter coat. Hear it is. I wore it on our night out and my new winter boots. It is so warm and best of all it is devoid of Ukrainian kitch and bling.

Cafe

To celebrate my birthday, Paul and I went out to TGI Fridy’s for dinner I had this lovely Mexican meal and Paul had a steak. It was great! After dinner Paul and I went out to Double Coffee a cafe in walking distance form TGI Fridays. The night was great, and the espresso coffee was more like a good stove top (better than a bad stove top). We had a great time. The photo is of me at Double Coffee. To read more on this night have a look at our travel bog site.

Vegimite bliss

My birthday bliss began with Paul singing happy birthday and opening the present from my Mum… Two tubes of Vegemite!!! It was so exciting to have a piece of Vegemite toast for breakfast:) My birthday day had just begun…

At work, the children and staff sung happy birthday and gave a lovely bunch of roses. I was a little teary at this as it was so nice to have such a warm birthday day so far from home. On my lunch break I raced home to chat with my family on skype.

You might say that I was a “Happy Little Vegemite”.
