“Aah, you open the sandwich …”

You know all the clichés about how terrible airline food is supposed to be, well I generally disagree. Sure it’s not sophisticated, but it’s usually tasty enough for me to order two or three servings … it is, after all, included in the price! So this is where I introduce Ukraine International Airlines, our only option for flying from Kiev to Berlin. Let’s just say that their taste in cuisine is … nostaglic. On our last flight to Berlin we were served a dry white bread roll containing only a solitary slice of pet food grade sausage meat, a bit pathetic when you’re forking out $400 a ticket for a two hour flight. But now UIA have turned a corner in in-flight cuisine, they opened the sandwich. I wonder if I can expect this gastronomic innovation next time I visit McDonalds, “… sir, may I interest you in our new Cheeseburger Ala Carte?”.
