The Wines of The Loire Valley
We were greatly looking forward to seeing the vineyards and tasting the wine of the Loire Valley. Our favourite find was the “Domaine Du Closel, Chateau Des Vaults” in Anjou. It was a beautiful place. The Family dog took us on a V.I.P tour of the vineyard. He even stopped at the gate and barked till we opened it.
The vineyard was lovely to explore. We were looking forward to tasting the wine if the grapes were an indication of quality. Our favourite pick from the wine tasting was the semi sweet “Les Caillardieres” (great with seafood). The Loire Valley also specialises in sparkling wines (particularly the Saumur region). These sparkling wines can be a great alternative to Champagne.
