Where Does Coutellerie Come From?
In the town of Thiers we happened across Couterllerie Lane, the historical location of Coutellerie Lane, where the coutellerie still made here supplies 70% of the French market. We found the Museum of Knifes were we were able to see the history and the Artisans at work.
Each knife is hand made. The fold knifes were particularly impressive, and the whole process and all of the 50-100 moving parts are fabricated by hand and assembled. Holding on to the aged tradition of a grinding stone and using modern eqquipment.
